Baltimore's Original Hanukkah House
When our founder, Avis (Naomi), moved to Menlo Drive, Baltimore, in 1972 as a teen, the neighborhood was largely Orthodox Jewish. During the first holiday, it was obvious there were very few families decorating homes with traditional Christmas lights. At some point during those years at Hanukkah, 6211 Park Heights hung strings lights. By the late 80s, the house became a Baltimore City phenomenon with its elaborate, fun, Hanukkah décor!
Each year, Avis and her mom, Annie (Pearl), walked a few blocks to visit the Hanukkah House. For Avis, it became a part of her Christmas celebration. This cookie represents those memories.
